![]() We’ve been honing our skills with Dante, Nero, and V since Devil May Cry 5 released last week. I really really doubt that Dante will actually be the final boss, but I will hope beyond hope for both gameplay and story reasons. When demons invade, the PlayStation social team answers the call. The strength of heart is such a lovely theme that DMC has cultivated. I apologize if this is long, but I really enjoy thinking about this. Vergil would be amazing, and the Prince of Darkness is probably going to be brutal, but both would pale to a Dante with no limits as a test of skill. Dante can beat a Prince of Darkness when he is willing to sacrifice himself for humanity and narratively Nero can beat a feral husk when he fights for the same thing.īut at the end of the day gameplay would definitely take the reins over story in this regard and I cannot think of a final boss who would be more punishing, difficult and satisfying to beat than Dante himself. Dante was trounced by Vergil when he had little motivation to win, but won that same day when he discovered an ideal worth fighting for. I wouldn't want Dante to be beaten in gameplay and then spare Nero in a cutscene since that might be unsatisfying, but perhaps Nero is able to somehow snap Dante out of it or cause him to falter at a critical moment.īut it really is the ideals and humanity of a character that determines if they'll win a fight in DMC. however, it would be the perfect point to encapsulate the themes of humans having heart and always being able to best demons at the end of the day. Nero being able to beat this Dante is the only part of this theory that I questioned myself. But it was already established when this was conceptualized that there are consequences to not holding back. I just think it would be really neat to see Dante at absolute full power no holding back against an enemy, since if we don't then we'll always be wondering what it would be like. This is just my theory based on really old concept art for an unused mechanic that I could see as having very nice story significance if they ever want to reexplore the concept of a Perfect Devil Trigger. If Vergil is the final fight for Nero, then maybe Dante could even be the final fight for V, but I have no idea how to gauge the strength of his character, but his abilities to enslave demons could actually make him a good candidate against this new Dante. I definitely think the last boss fight for Dante will be the Prince of Darkness character, and Nero's could either be Vergil or this new feral demon Dante. Which in turn makes me think this could be what could make players cry, Dante finally does as Vergil once said, obtains more POWER, and loses his humanity in the process of becoming strong enough to kill the Prince of Darkness. The Perfect Devil Trigger is said to give Dante power even greater than his father Sparda, but the side effect is that he loses himself in this form, potentally becoming feral. I theorize that Nero's campaign will focus on him and Vergil, while Dante will be about him and this new Prince of Darkness. ![]() But DMC 5 appears to be a different story with multiple interviews saying how this time Dante will have to get serious and the big bad is even stronger than Mundus. Which I believe is the hypest goddamn concept, and it wouldn't have made sense for DMC 4 as Dante never had to really even struggle. So recently someone posted a link to the wiki page for the Perfect Devil Trigger.
